Market Loses Ground

The market lost ground on the Sydney Stock Exchange in the week to Wednesday and the share price index fell 2.66 to 330.09, according to the weekly market report. Total average daily turnover of 788,600, including 201,600 mining, was slightly above average. A preliminary statement from Broken Hill Proprietary showed consolidated net profit for the latest year down 2.511,000 dollars to 36,009,000 dollars. In the last week the shares fell by 4c to 6.24 in heavy trading.
In the mining section Broken Hill South fell 5c to 255, C.R.A. fell 22c to 542, North Broken Hill fell 8c to 375, New Broken Hill gained 20c to 500 and Mt. Lyell gained 13c to 150.
