Obituary MR R. TWYNEHAM
Mr Roy Twyneham, who was for many years one of Christchurch’s leading lawyers, and a former president of the Automobile Association (Canterbury), died in St George’s Hospital on Wednesday. He was 81. Mr Twyneham, a past president of the Canterbury Law Society, was a man of wide interests. He joined the A.A.C. in 1917, becoming a member of the council in 1925. He was elected president in 1934 and remained closely associated with the organisation until several years ago. He was a Canterbury representative Rugby wing threequarter of considerable ability. He was walking champion of the New Zealand University in 1911, 1912 and 1913, and later judged walking events for the Canterbury Amateur Athletic Centre. He was a keen golfer and mountuinfiftT*. He graduated LLB. at the University of Canterbury in 1912 and established his own firm in Christchurch from which he retired in 1963. He was chairman of directors of the South Island Motor Union Insurance Company.
Mr Twyneham is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
