FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A depression over the Tasman Sea is moving towards southern New Zealand. Forecast: Canterbury.—Moderate winds, north-west inland, north-east on the coast; thundery showers about the alps; elsewhere partly cloudy and cool. Outlook: cold with showers in the ranges and foothills. Marlborough and Nelson.—Moderate northerly winds, fresh in some exposed places; showers persisting about the ranges; a few isolated showers elsewhere during the morning; cool.
