Award Of Cancer Fellowship
Dr. P. H. Fitzgerald, who has been granted a special fellowship by the International Union Against Cancer to attend the Ninth International Cancer Congress in Tokyo in October, will represent the Canterbury and Westland division of the Cancer Society of New Zealand. The chairman of the division (Mr L. A. Bennett), reporting this to the annual meeting yesterday, said that four fellowships were offered to New Zealand to enable cancer research scientists to attend the congress, but only one was granted. Dr. Fitzgerald would supplement his trip with study leave, during which be would visit a number of countries, Mr Bennett said.
