Road Courtesy

Sir, —As I was waiting cautiously for traffic to move from my left to turn right into Deans avenue from the Fendalton road and Deans .avenue intersection, I was tooted at from behind. This gave me a fright and I took off, and only the sheer genius of the driver in the car on the extreme left, turning left, prevented a nasty accident. If I had not been tooted at, that predicament would not have happened. Surely, as it was a give-way sign, it was my prerogative to move when 1 thought fit, as I was first in line.—Yours, etc., E. L. ELLIS. July 27, 1966.
