TERRIFIC’S CAMPAIGN

Caulfield Cup (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY. The New Zealand three-year-old Terrific seemed certain to start in the Caulfield Cup as a lead-up to the Melbourne Cup, the “Sydney Morning Herald” said yesterday. The Herald said the horse’s owner. Dr. A. McGregor, and trainer. M. Ritchie, were reported to have made this decision over the week-end. Mr Ritchie explained that there were not enough wetght-for-age races in Melbourne from which to choose an adequate Melbourne Cup preparation, without running in the Caulfield Cup Original plans were for Terrific to miss the Caulfield, because the winner can be penalised in the Melbourne Cup, said the “Herald.” Terrific has 8-12 in the Caulfield and 8-10 in the big Flemington race.
