VACANCIES—PROFESSIONAL CHIEF ACCOUNTANT WE HAVE BEEN ASKED to assist in the appointment of a Chief Accountant to the wholesaling subsidiary of a group of companies engaged in the importation, manufacture and distribution of industrial and domestic electrical equipment and allied lines. LOCATION Head Office of the company is in Wellington with branch offices at other centres. POSITION AND PROSPECTS The immediate appointment will be as Chief Accountant responsible to the Company Secretary who is also Secretary of the parent company. It is the intention to appoint a man who can take over the position of Secretary of the Subsidiary as soon as be has gained experience in the company and shown that he is fitted for it. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Applicants should be members of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, aged between 30 and 45 years. The company is about to embark on a programme of revision of its office systems including stock control and the introduction of budgetary control procedures. As the Chief Accountant will be expected to initiate and implement these changes it is desirable that the appointee should have had experience to fit him for this. REWARDS The appointment of Chief Accountant will carry a salary in the £lB5O-£2OOO bracket. If the appointee proves suitable for promotion to Company Secretary an appropriate increase in salary will be made. The company conducts a subsidised superannuation scheme and consideration will be given to assistance with removal expenses for an appointee not already resident in Wellington. Assist the Financial Accountant with the preparation of profit and other returns. QUALIFICATIONS: Control Accountant—should be qualified A.R.A.N.Z. Age is immaterial but the person must be practical, adaptable and capable of controlling staff. Assistant Accountant —a recently qualified or nearly qualified young accountant who has possibly had experience in a public accountant’s office. REWARDS: Salaries for both positions will be negotiated but will be within the range of £l4OO. £2OOO per annum. Fringe benefits include superannuation, staff buying privileges, gratuities and regular salary merit reviews. LOCATION: Head Office is in Wellington.
