N.A.C. Appoints New Chief Pilot
Captain W. Schrader has been appointed chief pilot of the National Airways Coi> poration. One of the airline’s most experienced pilots, he has been district senior pilot at Christchurch for the last three years. Educated at Scots College, Wellington, Captain Schrader first flew with the R.N.Z.A.F. in 1941. He served overseas during World War 11, rose to the rank of wing commander.
and was awarded the D.F.C. and Bar. In 1947 Captain Schrader joined the airline when it first started. In the last 20 years he has flown Lodestars, DC3s, Friendship and Viscount aircraft He is a Viscount captain with some 15,000 hours to his credit Captain Schrader will be based in Wellington. Although he will spend some time on administration, he will continue to fly Viscounts.
