Miss Muir’s time clipped three-tenths of a second off the record of 2:27.4 set by the American Miss K. Ferguson in Los Angeles in September, 1964. She now holds two world backstroke records, having clocked a world mark of lmin Bsec for 110 yards in Durban last March, to improve on her previous record of 1:08.3.
