FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—Another trough of low pressure is advancing across the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Canterbury and the Kaikoura Coast.—Moderate to fresh northerly winds, fair at first, but rain spreading from the west during the day; rain periods brief in coastal districts; colder. Outlook: cold with showers inland. Marlborough and Nelson.—North to northwest winds, strong in exposed places; mainly fine in the morning, but a further period of rain likely during the afternoon. Outlook: cold, changeable westerly conditions. Buller and Westland.—Northerly winds, becoming strong from early morning with fairly widespread heavy rain and thunderstorms.
