Supply Of Vehicles

(N.Z. Press Association > WELLINGTON, July 25. The inadequate supply of new motor-vehicles in relation to demand in the present economic state in New Zealand does lead to “unfortunate results.” There is no doubt of this in the mind of Mr R. E. Jack (Govt., Waimarino). He has said so in reply to the 471-word telegram protesting at car price “rackets” in the country issued recently by a Wellington businessman v Mr A. Saul Goldsmith. Concerned over the situation, Mr Goldsmith sent telegrams to all 80 members of Parliament and the Trade Practices Division of the Industries and Commerce Department

The reaction has been startling. Seventeen National and three Labour representatives replied within one week. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said he felt the question should be for the consideration of the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Marshall) and had asked him to reply. Mr Marshall’s comments, however, have not yet been received.
