ELECTORAL ROLLS
Reminder To Voters
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 25. The main electoral rolls will close on Wednesday. The supplementary ells will then open. Mr J. G. A’Court, Chief Electoral Officer, said today that it was expected that the printing of the main rolls, would be completed towards the end of August. They would be distributed to post offices, public libraries, j Social Security offices, offices of registrars of electors and Magistrate’s Courts as soon as possible and would be open for inspection. All qualified, persons, whether European or Maori, are required to register as electors.
“Voting for representatives in Parliament is a right which should be jealously guarded,” said Mr A’Court. “Each person should do this by making sure that his name is on the roll and that he votes at election time.
“European electors—this includes persons possessing less than half Maori bloodare required to register on the European rolls. Maoris possessing ric.e than half Maori blood are required to be on the Maori rolls. An elector possessing half Maori blood has the option as to whether he enrolls on the European or the Maori roll for the district in yjiich he resides.”
