Mr E. D. Holt, a Hawke's Bay farmer, was elected president of the National Party at the party's annual conference. He succeeds Mr J. S. Meadowcroft who has retired after holding the position for the last four years. Mr Holt, aged 53, was opposed for the presidency by Mr A. J. Yendell, a Hamilton businessman.—(P.A.)
