There was evidence of original thinking in many of the essays submitted in the Canterbury section of the Water Safety Committee’s annual competition, said the youth activities officer with the Internal Affairs Department (Mr L. J. Coughlan). Mr Coughlan said 175 entries had been received and the judges had selected six, three from each division, to be sent to Wellington for national judging.
