N. VIETNAM SUPPLIES
Call For Port To Be Mined (N ZP A Reuter—Copyright) WASHINGTON, July 25. The Secretary of Defence, Mr Robert McNamara, has said that the mining of the North Vietnamese port of Haiphong would not necessarily reduce the flow of supplies into South Vietnam. In Congressional testimony released last night, Mr McNamara, who was replying to calls for the mining of the port, said material could be brought into North Vietnam over the beaches or along' roads from south China. “So there is no assurance: that mining the harbour: would stop the flow, or even, significantly reduce the flow! of supplies from North Vietnam into South Vietnam, he said.
