Centurions

Saturday’s Rugby at Lancaster Park Oval held a special significance for two of the players: W. F. McCormick, the Canterbury full-back, and J. B. Shaw, the Buller prop. McCormick’s game against the British Isles was his one hundredth appearance for Canterbury. Shaw reached his century of first-class games when he played for West Coast-Buller against a Canterbury XV in the curtain-raiser. In recognition of their long service, McCormick and Shaw were given the honour of leading their respective teams on to the field.
