INVERCARGILL. New Zealand’s champion race mare, Robin Dundee, will leave Gore soon on the first stages of a trip which will take her round the world—to Australia, America, and home to New Zealand via England— spread over three years. She has thrived since she resumed work with J. Walsh and her owner, Mr J. W. Hewitt, said yesterday: “I have never seen her looking better—sfie is in terrific condidstion.”
Robin Dundee will complete her preparation m Canterbury for engagements at the National meeting at Addington next month. She will be badly placed in the handicaps, but it is felt that she needs the racing in view of her New Zealand Cup engagement in November. Robin Dundee will go to Australia on the first available transport after her racing at Addington in November. Mr Hewitt said that in view of the long trip to the Inter • Dominion Championships in Perth in February, Robin Dundee would probably have a race or two on the way. If Robin Dundee goes to America after Perth, she will be bred from at the end of her career. “My idea is to mate her with the best stallion possible and if she has a colt foal I
well sell it tn the States, but if she has a filly I will bring it home with the mare,” said Mr Hewitt
