Motor-Vehicle Assembly
The number of motor cars assembled in New Zealand ini 1964-65 was almost double the number assembled four years earlier said the Government Statistician. There were 58,015 motor-cars assembled in 1964-65, compared with 29,988 assembled in 1960-61, and 51,538 in 1963-64. Assembly of commercial vehicles has remained almost constant during the last four years, 10,410 commercial vehicles being assembled in 1964-65, compared with 8249 in 1960-61 and 9128 in 1963-64. The cost of materials used in motor-vehicle assembly increased from £31.4m in 1963-64 to £37.6m in 1964-65, a 20 per cent rise, while the value of production rose by 15 per cent from £41.7m to £4Bm in the last year.
