Dollar Pricing

Sir,—The comments of Mr B. Purdy on the pitfalls in dollar shopping were very interesting, but I do feel that in one instance the New Zealand Retailers’ Federation could remove one of these pitfails. Why not start right away and eliminate pricing in guineas? What is a guinea, anyway? I have been around this planet for nigh on 50 years and have yet to see one. Its continued use in pricing has only a snob value, and as it is likely to create problems when converting to dollars and cents, now would be an appropriate time to eliminate it.—Yours, etc., D. W. NIETHE. July 17, 1966.
