Hong Kong ‘Showcase’ For N.Z. Exports
(N.Z. Preu Association) WELLINGTON, July 18. New Zealand will have its own shop window in Southeast Asia when the New Zealand Trade and Display Centre opens in Hong Kong in September. The centre is on the ground floor of the new international building in the middle of the main business area, and will handle only New Zealand produce. The general manager of the promoting company, Mr J. T. H. Chung, who is visiting New Zealand, hopes to interest manufacturers and exporters in the project, which will serve the entire South-east Asian market Mr Chung said this morning that a group of prominent Hong Kong businessmen had provided strong support for the venture and already positive inquiries had been received for a wide range of products. Two companies had been formed in Hong Kong to support the trade centre by pur-
chasing and marketing New Zealand products in bulk. These companies had a combined purchasing power of more than £1,000,000 a year, he said.
