134 Bale Out Safely I (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) NEW YORK, July 17. Thirty Army National Guard parachutists and four airmen baled out of their firestricken military transport plane over Jacksonville, Florida, last night.
All the men, including the; pilot who had been missing for several hours, were picked up safely. The plane crashed and burned in a field 17 miles west of Jacksonville. Their aircraft had reached an altitute of 7000 ft when fire broke out in one of two engines. The pilot immediately alerted all aboard to prepare to bale out.
