The record-breaking performance of Winfreux to win the Doomben Cup last Saturday revives the likelihood of his being sent to America to race
Winfreux ran the 11 furlongs in 2min 13.8sec—--12.165ec to the furlong or faster than 38 miles an hour —and lowered the world record for the distance from 2min 14.2 sec credited 46 years ago to. the great American horse Man o’ War and equalled by New Zealands Boundless in 1964. The race began as if it were a sprint, but, unlike many of the runners, Winfreux showed no sign of tiring. When the time came for his winning sprint he dashed past the leaders as if he had been held in reserve exactly for that purpose, and the race was his a long way from the post. Last winter Winfreux won the sprint double in Brisbane —the Stradbroke Handicap ADVERTISING Is not sometblng Mysterious that may, or may not bring the desired results. It is a definite, cleancut business force that yields profits in direct proportion to tbe intelligence and the extent of its application.
and the Doomben Ten Thousand. He had won his maiden race only a month earlier.
