Appeal To End Today
Donations to the John Harrison Memorial Fund now total £14,906. The national appeal will close today. Yesterday “The Press" received £293, making £5905 since the appeal opened. One of the trustees received donations of £l6B 16s 6d yesterday. This included £52 10s from the Christchurch Gas Company, Ltd., £2O from the staff of the Coronation Hospital, £2O from H. J. Harrington, and two anonymous donations of £2O. Other donations included £37 10s from the staff and boys of St. Andrew’s College, and £l3 15s from the Mc-Kendry-Gresham football match. A cheque for £lO was received from G. B. D. Prints. Donations received by “The Press” yesterday included £33 8s from Gough, Gough, and Hamer, Ltd., and staff, £65 12s 6d from the shop owners and assistants of New Brighton, £2O from Simonius Vischer and Company, £l6 2s from Bumside High School, and £l5 each from R. F. Stead and the Christchurch Press chapel. A donation of £2O Bs, the proceeds of a stall, was received from the pupils of Form 11, Aranui Primary School. An additional £5 was received from the Clan MacLeod Society, and £lO from James Shand and Company.
