POUND DIPS AGAIN
Some Ground Lost After showing some strength last week on news of the strong support of European central bankers, the pound lost ground slightly to all currencies except those of Belgium, Denmark, Sweden and Switzerland. The quotations for these currencies were unchanged. The latest changed telegraphic transfer exchange rates as advised by the Bank of New South Wales: New Zealand on— New York: buy, 2.7847 dollars (against 2.7859 last week): sell!, 2.7532 (2.7544). Austria: 72.32 scMMilngs (72.35); 70.86 (same). Canada: 2.9959 dollars (2.9995): 2.9575 (2.9611). France: 13.72 francs (13.73); 13.45 (same). Italy: 1748 lire (1749); 1711 (1712). Japan: 1015 yen (1016): 993 (same). Netherlands: 10.12 guMders (10.13); 9.90 (9.91). Norway: 20.04 crowns (20.06); 19.61 (19.63). Western Germany: 11.22 marks (same); 10.97 (10.98).
I.C.I.A.N.Z.— The Imperial Chemical Industries of Australia and New Zealand register of members of 5 per cent preference shares will be closed from July 15 •to July 29 inclusive. Dividend for the halt year to July 31 at the rate of 5 per cent per annum wiM be paid on July 29; ex dividend July 13.—(P.A.).
