Sea Rescue Beacons
"The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, June 20. Almost £50,000 worth of sea rescue equipment is going into service with the Royal New Zealand Air Force to aid searches for crews who are forced to “ditch.” The equipment consists of beacons that emit radio signals which help searching aircraft to establish the position of crew who have had to abandon their plane. So far 260 beacons have been issued to operations group. The remaining 195 are still to be delivered. They will be issued to the training group and fitted to all life rafts on all aircraft in the service.
