Young writers are warned in the current issue of “The Author,” the journal of the Society of Authors, against parting with their original manuscripts to certain American universities trying to build up collections on the cheap. Collins, having published a new edition of "The Imitation of Christ, were asked to redirect a begging letter asking for the original manuscript The envelope was addressed to T. A. Kempis, Esq.—Pendennis in the “Observer,” London.
