W.O.F. TEST DELAYS
Busy Month For Stations Motorists taking their cars to either of the two Christchurch City Council vehicle testing stations at present are frequently having to wait for some time before their cars are tested. This is because June and December are the two busiest months for warrant-of-fitness renewals, mainly because many motorists obtain new warrants before the Christmas holidays, and are then due for renewals in June. The council’s traffic superintendent (Mr J. F. Thomas) said yesterday that the department appreciated that delays occurred, and staff were making every effort to get cars through the testing stations as quickly as possible. There were generally lesser delays at the Cranford street testing station, and those wishing to get warrants at times other than lunch time were advised to use the Cranford street station. Mr Thomas pointed out that the Lichfield street testing station was open until 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and the Cranford street station was open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
