ON WAY TO MELBOURNE

E Didham, with a six horse team, left Wingatui on Wednesday on the first stage of his trip to Melbourne for the important races at the Caulfield-Melbourne Cup carnival. His team consists of Royal Estate. Bastille and Ski. which are engaged in both the Melbourne and Caulfield Cups, Mon Amour (Melbourne Cup). Beliition (Caulfield Cup), and the two-year old, Jock, which has been entered for the Caulfield Guineas and the Victoria Derby. The team will be quartered at Riccarton until Saturday, when they are due to leave for Melbourne on a DC4 Skymaster. The flight Is due to arrive at Melbourne at 8.15 p.m. on Saturday (N.Z. time). The team will be quartered at Mentone, where Didham has made his headquarters on previous trips to Victoria.

Continuation Wins Cup (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) ASCOT. Continuation, owned by Mr S. McGrath, won the Royal Hunt Cup Handicap, one mile, at Ascot on Wednesday. Mr R. E. Eveson’s Steeple Aston was second and Mr G. Dudley’s Midnight Marauder was third of 30 runners.

Continuation won by five lengths with a neck between second and third.
