Storm Upset Winning Bid
(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) WAKEFIELD. The loss of the last 10 minutes’ play possibly cost the New Zealand women’s cricket team victory over Yorkshire at Wakefield yesterday. A thunderstorm stopped play when Yorkshire was eight wickets down for 92 in reply to New Zealand’s total of 161 for seven declared. The Yorkshire batsmen were unhappy against the fast bowling of Miss J. Burley, who took three for 11. Scores. —New Zealand 161/7 dec. (J. Burley 29 not out, J. Stonell 21, J. Stead 23), Yorkshire 92/8 (Burley 3/11, P. Blackler 3/29).
