Wickets Lost Cheaply
(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) BLACKPOOL. The New Zealand women’s cricket team met its keenest opposition of the tour so far when it began a two-day match against a strong North of England team on Saturday. New Zealand was dismissed for 99, and at the close the North of England was 93 for five. On a hard, fast pitch the New Zealanders were in trouble early to the accurate, fast attack of J. Moorhouse.
Four wickets fell for 28 runs, when a good stand was made by Miss B. Brentnail and Miss J. Burley. This was further consolidated by some hard hitting from Miss W. Coe and Miss J. Saulbrey.
Scores: New Zealand 99 (Coe 20, Burley 19; Moorhouse 4/23), North of England 93/5 (Burley 2/29, J. Saulbrey 3/20).
