Cheese Pay-out Record At 45.11d
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 13. The Dairy Board has informed farmers supplying cheese factories that they are to receive a retrospective increase of 5.20 d a pound in the butterfat price.
A Dairy Board official said tonight that the increase would be paid on the whole of last season, which would bring the final price to a record 45.11 d a pound. He said the reason for the increase was the formula which was contained in an amendment to the Dairy Production and Marketing Board Act last year, which provided that the price which cheese producers received was to be related to the average of the
added amounts, which sup pliers to butter factories received through the sales of the by-products, milk powder and casein. The increase means that the average supplier of 20,000 pounds of butterfat for cheese-making a year will receive a back payment of about £4OO.
The additional pay-out for cheese production will come from the Dairy Industry Account
