MONK STOPS FASTING

A Vietnamese Buddhist monk fasting to death in protest against American policy in Vietnam last night called off his fast, on orders from his superiors in Saigon. The monk, Thich Quang iThiep, aged 38, collapsed yesterday—his tenth dav on a I diet of water—and ne was ; taken to hospital, given a i glucose transfusion, and then | released at his own insistence.
