CHANGE OF RIDER

Walters On Macdonald

"The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND

The Riverton visitor Macdonald, one of the most discussed candidates for the Great Northern Hurdles at Ellerslie today, will have a change of rider, G. A. Walters replacing W. J. Hillis, the trainer, who was on the gelding for his two races at Te Rapa last month. Hillig said yesterday he would have had to waste to make Macdonald’s weight of 9.4 and in view of his important, heavier rides during the meeting, he did not think thia advisable. He will ride Koral and Eiffel Tower today.

Waltera, who is 22 years old, served his apprenticeship at Elleralie, in R. G. Stenning’a stable. Increasing weight forced him to take to riding over fences and he was almost immediately successful.
