Sydney stock market closed the week on a bright note yesterday. In the mining market Western Mining rose to a high of 495 and later eased back to 480, which was a gain of 5 cents on the previous day. In the investment market B.H.P. closed 4 cents about Thursday’s last sale at 572.

Industrials were firm In quiet trading on the Melbourne Stock Exchange yesterday. Leaders advanced, headed by 8.H.P.. up 2 cents to 572. Western Mining continued to feature in base metals, gaining another 15 cents to 490. This makes a rise of 2.16 dollars since the announcement of a nickel discovery near Kalgoorlie on April 8.
