N.Z. Stocks Balance In Lighter Trading
Relatively light trading over a fairly wide range of issues kept the New Zealand list in balance as trading closed for the week. Strong support came from the overseas list, and over all the market was more buoyant than for several weeks.
There were few moves by key New Zealand stocks, but fluctuations were upward. Fletcher new rose 9d to 19s and M. O’Brien 6d to 14s. Fletcher old shares at 19s 6d and Wright Stephenson at 29s 9d each gained 3d.
Australian stocks were again firm, A.C.I. at 51s 3d, C.S.R. at 24s 9d, Waltons at 9s Id each gained 3d, while B.H.P. rose 9d to reach a new high level of 50s 3d.
