A last-minute bid to get the national champion diver, Miss G. Morley, to the Empire Games in Jamaica this year appears to have failed. Miss Morley was not included in the New Zealand team announced last month, but there was a chance she could have gone to Jamaica if she could have turned in a meritorious performance by the end of the month. The New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association had tried to arrange a top-level competition in Australia in which Miss Morley could take part.
However, advice was received yesterday that there is no possibility of this taking place.
