SCRATCH RIDERS
Matching Of Games Men
Although Christchurch cyclists have an inter-club race at Halswell today, the chief interest for many of them will be centred on the West Coast.
The West Coast 25-mile championship, an inter-town race from Hokitika to Greymouth. will be held tomorrow and 19 of the 40 entries are from Christchurch clubs. There is added spice because two Empire Games cyclists may be together on the scratch mark. T. J. Tabak is a definite starter and the Nelson pursuit rider, D. A. Comparing may also be taking part. The Empire Games trialists, J. H. Cleary and J. S. Danielson, are both entered and are on the scratch mark. In taking fastest time last year, Tabak clocked 50min 12sec, the fastest time ever recorded in a 25-mile race in New Zealand. ,
