A 3280-name New Zealand Greyhound Association petition seeking authority to conduct dog-betting meetings was presented to Parliament by Dr. A. M. Finlay (Opposition. Waitakere) and sent to the petition committee . . betting in 2s units at registered race tracks . . . said the quality of greyhounds could thus rise, opening prospects of dog exports to South-east Asia and Australia. —News item. Sir, let us All unite Behind this brave Petition. Let’s stand up for the Right! Let’s make it our Life’s Mission Let’s dedicate Ourselves, to getting The Stigma lifted from Dog Betting. At least, this Issue’s clear. The Conscience of the Nation, The Freedom it holds Dear, Cry out for Legislation. Sir, let Us face the Question squarely Has the Dog Sport been treated fairly? Ah, not for selfish Fun Let Nobody mistake! The Dogs WE back will run For our dear Country’s Sake, That Export Trade we sorely need, In Dogs of a superior Breed. Especially that Trade With South-east Asian Parts: Such Economic Aid Will touch their subtle Hearts. Think what those Two-bob Bets may do, Jump up, and wave YOUR Banner, too. It’s worth what Votes it gets, That Asian Export Touch. Give Us our Two-bob Bets! Really we care as Much For the Export Trade in Golliwogs Or as Much as Finlay does for Dogs.
