Athletes Shine
New Zealand's athletic reputation is being well maintained in the United States at present. G. Pyne improved his best three mile time to 13min 20.6 sec to finish second behind G. Lingram in a race on May 21, an improvement of a second on his best time last year. The former Otago athlete, R. Johnson, recently ran the 440 yards hurdles in 51sec to win an inter-collegiate meeting.
D. W. Mackenzie also improved his chances of selection for Jamaica with a double performance of 48.5 sec for the 440 yards and 22.25ec in the 220 yards at a meeting last week.
