More Changes On Hockey Table?
Positions on the senior men’s hockey ladder have been changing each week and could continue to do so when Hagley Old Boys and High School Old Boys meet at Williamson Park today. Both are half a point behind the leading team, Harewood.
An improved showing by High School Old Boys last week was encouraging. I. Palmer, in goal, gave a grand exhibition—his best of the
season. Old Boys are reasonably sound on defence, but there is an urgent need for improvement in the forwards. Hagley Old Boys have a solid all-round combination that has troubled H. 5.0.8. for the last few seasons. Its ability to attack down the right flank is Hagley’s strongest weapon, and one Old Boys will be trying to counteract. University should beat Sydenham at flam. The home team has more hockey skill than Sydenham and with concentration and determination should cany the day. The two early games are both at the Polo Grounds. Harewood plays Selwyn, a side which has not yet realised its full potential. Harewood, fully recovered from recent celebrations, will be reluctant to give any ground and should prove too strong for Selwyn. The two Woolston teams meet in the other game. The A side appears to have found form, the right flank, its most dangerous weapon, now being used to the full. Woolston B has scored only one goal in six games and has conceded 24. Woolston A should be untroubled to score its second win of the season.
