NO RISK FROM FRENCH TEST

SANTIAGO. May 27. A proposed meeting of South America’s seaboard countries to discuss forthcoming French atomic tests in the Pacific has been called off, said a Chilean Foreign Ministry spokesman.
The spokesman said it had been called off because, according to technical reports, there would be no risks to Chile. Peru. Ecuador and Colombia from the tests. Scientific experts from the four countries concluded a fnur-day meeting on the sub- ! ject in Lima on Sunday. A communique said that they had reached unanimous I agreement but gave no fur- ! thet details While they believe further testing should be halted to prevent increased radioactivity tn the Pacific, the i scientists are understood to have agreed that the French tests—expected in July—will : be no hazard to the health of South Americans.
In Caracas, the Venezuelan Chamber of Deputies has unanimously condemned the French Government’s proposed tests
The resolution also condemned any other such nuclear experiments other nations might carry out in any part of the world.
The chamber decided to vote on the tests after learning that the Peruvian Chamber of Deputies had condemned the tests.
