Deviation At Waipara
It was hoped to start work next year on the three-mile deviation of the Main North road at Waipara, the District Highways Engineer (Mr J. G. Sullivan) told the National Roads Board, during its North Canterbury tour yesterday.
The deviation will start at the railway crossing to the south of Waipara, and run to the east of the railway line and township to rejoin the highway just north of the new bridge at Glenmark, on which work has started. The deviation will cross the Waipara river by a new 800 ft bridge, downstream from the railway bridge. An underpass will connect the highway to highway No. 7, to Culverden and the Lewis Pass.
