Pictures From Satellite
The first set of three pictures from the Nimbus II satellite, received yesterday by the Christchurch Weather Office from the United States base at Harwood, is of much higher quality than prints received from the Essa II satellite.
Nimbus 11, launched on Sunday from Vandenburg Air Base, California, is orbiting at a height of 700 miles. The first print received locally showed cloud well to the east of New Zealand. The satellite made its second orbit yesterday, passing over the South Island.
