New Booklet On Decimal Currency
A major advance In the campaign to help people to change to dollars and cents would be made with the distribution to householders later this month of a handy booklet, the chairman of the Decimal Currency Board (Mr S. E. Moses) said this week. “The booklet, ‘Decimal Currency and You,’ describes simply the ‘whys’ and ‘hows’ of the change on July 10 next year. “Everyone is urged to read
this booklet. The board considers this so important that it has arranged a concentrated campaign in the press and on radio and television to bring the booklet to everyone’s attention,” Mr Moses said. The next step was a comprehensive book, “Dollars and Cents and Your Business,” 100.000 copies of which were expected to be distributed in July and August. “No one booklet could cover all business aspects of the change,” Mr Moses said, “but
we feel this small book will set out all the main factors clearly. Every businessman should get a copy when it becomes available. “We urge owners of small businesses or those with special problems to consult now their accountants or other business advisers. They may also write direct to the board for advice.” A general campaign to help people to understand the basic facts of the new dollars and cents will start in the press
and on radio and television in July with a “one-year-to-go” theme. Also on this theme, a round of seminars for businessmen will emphasise the need for them to plan early. Dr. N. Davey, secretary of the Australian Decimal Currency Board, is expected to visit New Zealand late in June and early July to confer with New Zealand officials and address some of these seminars. He will deal with Australian experiences and ideas in retrospect.
