The new interdenominational chapel at the Templeton Hospital and training school will be handed over to the Health Department and dedicated on May 29. It will be accepted from the chairman of the appeal committee .Mr E. A. Lee, S.M.) by the director of the Mental Health Division (Dr. S. W. P. Mirams). The chapel will be dedicated by the Bishop of Christchurch (the Right Rev. A. K. Warren), the Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch (the Most Rev. B. P. Ashby), the Moderator of the (the Rev. T. G. Campbell), the chairman of the Methodist District Synod (the Rev. H. C. Matthews) and Brigadier L. Miller, of the Salvation Army. The estimated cost of the chapel is £26,000, and so far the building fund has received £25,450, which, less campaign expenses, is £24,100. The building is now almost completed, but the last £lBOO stage, the erection of the bell tower, will not be done by the time the chapel is dedicated, and will be completed soon afterwards, when the remainder of the £26,000 has been collected. The first fete to launch the chapel building fund was held in February, 1964.
