Student Body Elections
A Rhodesian student, Mr I Patrick Pfukani, was elected president of the African Students’ Association at the annual conference which ended in Christchurch on Saturday. He is studying political science, history, and geography at the University of Otago. Miss Bilha Adagala, of Kenya, was elected secretary, and Mr Murray Lamin, of Sierra Leone .assistant secretary. Another Rhodesian student, Mr Elliot Zwangobani, is the new treasurer, and Mr Charles Maitai, of Kenya .editor of the association’s publication, “Uhura” (“Freedom”).
The conference, which opened on Wednesday, was attended by about 30 African students who are studying in New Zealand. They attended an informal farewell party last evening after a day of sight-seeing tours. They will return to their university centres today. i
