Obituary

Mr R. C. Blackmore Mr Ronald Charles Blackmore, who died last week, had been visual aids officer at Lincoln College for 20 years: In this role he was familiar to thousands of farmers as he photographed field days and other events of the college. He was also well known to two generations of staff and students whom he helped considerably in their work. Mr Blackmore’s photographic work was of an extremely high order, said a colleague. He illustrated most of the college’s publications, research papers of staff, and students’ theses. His work ranged from sweeping panoramas to photography of microscopic specimens. During service with the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in Egypt, Mr Blackmore was severely wounded and invalided home. For three years he worked with Dr P. R. McMahon in the wool department of Lincoln College and took his major post in 1946.

He was a keen angler and for a time was a council member of the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society.
