CHARTWILL DESTROYED
(N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE. Chartwill, a five-year-old Avocat General gelding from Whakatane, which was to have made his hurdling debut at Makaraka tomorrow, had to be destroyed yesterday after a schooling mishap. Chartwill was carried off at the second fence by another jumper and apparently broke a leg when he struck the wing of the fence. The rider, W. Rownley, had a heavy fall, but was uninjured.
