Pickets Planned For U.S. Ships

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 16. Pickets are being organised by the Peace for Vietnam Committee in Auckland to lead demonstrations when two United States warships visit the city to commemorate the Battle of the Coral Sea between May 18 and 22.

Spokesmen would not give details of the picketing arrangements, but it is thought that a picket is also being arranged to confront the leading United States representative for the commemoration, Vice-Admiral P. H. Ramsey. A spokesman for the visiting United States representatives said they were “quite prepared” for demonstrations.
