Two Generations In League Match
Experience gained from 69 test appearances will be matched with the promise of youth at the Show Grounds on Sunday when the Canterbury Ex-Kiwis team meets a Canterbury Rugby League team, selected by Mr W. F. McNaughtan.
The secretary of the ExKiwis’ Association (Mr A. J. Atkinson) yesterday announced the following team to represent the association; A. A. Smith; A. N. Amer, B. W. Langton, J. M. Bray, P. M. V. White; N. K. Roberts, R. S. J. Irvine; J. L. White; K. C. Pearce, J. F. Jones; J. H. Fisher, J. E. Bond, G. H. Turner. The reserves, who are ex-
pected to play half a game, are I. T. Drayton, C. C. Pascell, I. D. Anderson, J. J. Curtain, P. J. Creedy, and A. J. Atkinson.
Mr McNaughtan, a former South Island and West Coast representative and the present Addington coach, has selected an attractive team of young players. He has shunned several Canterbury representatives, preferring the strong contenders W. R. Campbell, W. Flavell, and G. Woodgate. The Kaiapoi centre, B. Williams, will get his first opportunity outside club football. The team is:—
Campbell (Linwood): G. J. Abercrombie (Linwood), Williams, W. Woodgate (Hornby), S. Dunn (Papanui); R. Raistrick (Sydenham), G. H. Clarke (Papanui); M. J. Worters (Addington); Woodgate (Hornby), Flavell (Marist); M. H. Mohi (Marist), K. Neiman (Hornby), R. Cotter (Addington). The reserves are T. Wastney (Hornby), D. McCosh (Addington), and A. F. McNaughtan (Addington).
